Beginners

Welcome to the great sport of archery.  The first piece of advice to anyone thinking of taking up the sport should be: Don’t buy any equipment!

Wait, go to a club.  There should be lots of people there, who can advise you on what to buy, and where to buy it.   Also, lots of clubs will have some equipment that’s suitable for beginners, while they decide if they’re going to take up the sport “full-time”.  It’s very easy to spend a lot of money on a bow that’s too strong to learn with, or too weak to progress with.  Talk to people at an archery club, and get some advice.  There may even be people in the club selling perfectly good equipment, cheaply.  Bows can last for decades.  If you have bought a bow, go along to a club anyway, and bring it with you.  There will probably be people there who can tell you how to get the best out of it.

So, that’s basically it for step 1: Contact a club in you area.

I’m interested in taking up archery. Would like to try it first before I invest in equipment.

    Thanks
